Journey of artistic discovery: testimonials from Trnava Workshop Week
During the 3rd PMP Workshop Week in September 23-27, 2024, in Trnava (Slovakia), the participating artists from diverse backrounds dove deep into pressing issues of our time: media literacy, fake news, misinformation/disinformation and responsible media behavior. They also got to explore and learn how to apply game-design elements and principles to enhance engagement, understanding and connection.
Here are some of the artists´experiences and insights during the week.
A moment of healing and insight
“One of the most interesting moments for me was the art therapy on Friday. Despite the fact that I have already encountered art therapy several times, it was again something unique. We worked on huge canvases, which gave us a lot of freedom to express ourselves. It was something I needed at the end of the workshop week. I felt relaxed and the laughter and joy shared among the groups created a sense of community that will help with our individual struggles and challenges.
During the workshop week, we talked a lot about the importance of social media in promoting art. Personally, I realized that I should dedicate more time to showcasing my art on my social media, especially in Instagram: create content posts and follow trends in the creating the posts and stories to captivate my followers and attract new followers.
Empowerment through knowledge
The workshops were not just about creativity; they were also about empowerment. I really enjoyed the workshops with Harry Tsatryan, who is a media and communication researcher and fact-checking specialist. Harry introduced us to many interesting things, including various advantages of using artificial intelligence. He showed us a way to find out if our email address has been hacked. Email is an important method of communication that we use daily in our artistic life, especially when communicating with clients. Thanks to Harry, I now regularly check the status of my email address – a crucial step in protecting my artistic practice.”

Journey of colors and connections
“I fully enjoyed my experience in Trnava: it was a continuous discovery of details, corners, challenges, people, eyes, stories… a discovery of a city that represented for me the possibility to surprise myself with my own colors, which just absorbed those of the walls.
The workshop week offered me a new point of view to see everything I handle during a common day. It gave me many instruments to understand the media world and to read it with awareness and more maturity.
But if you ask me, what was the most essential thing I learned or got a confirmation for? My response is: how to create interaction and shape a relationship with place and people. The “human material,” the possibility to get in touch with someone’s soul, with their art, is pure creation. It is art itself.
Proud Moment
I’m a dancer from Italy and represented in Trnava my artistic collective Gruppocorp3, which I recently founded with Roberta Di Serio. Our collective was born from an urgency to return to something as human as possible: relationships, what space those occupy, and how we could embody those in our art.
Watching our work, on the final day of the workshop week, projected on a wall of the exhibition room in Maly Berlin made me really proud of what we wanted to say. I was truly happy to see how people reacted to us; just being anatomy and emotions in connection.”

We hope the 3rd PMP Workshop Week was more than just an event for the participating artist; perhaps a journey of artistic growth and self-discovery. As they returned home, we hope they took with them a deeper understanding of their role in the world of media, a commitment to responsible communication and the power of art to inspire change.
Stay tuned for more stories from the PMP journey!
