Forms of Presence: STeReO and Cat Care Calling

Rather than gathering in a single venue, we chose an itinerant format — a moving path that mirrors the spirit of exchange we’ve lived together, and also because of the nature of artistic works that Perypezye will take care of, which is the live performance.

Two dance pieces will tour throughout the month of October 2026: STeReO by gruppocorp3 and Cat Care Calling by Raffaella Menchetti. The former will tour in Italy, while the latter will tour in Spain, both during the month of October. Both dance pieces have been produced during and thanks to the PMP project. Cat Care Calling was selected for the residency in Venice (Italy), while STeReO for the residency in Split (Croatia).

Performances

STeReO

STeReO takes its title from the Greek stereós (“solid”) and from stereo sound, where two audio channels create a three-dimensional space. The performance explores the body as both solid matter and a field of vibrations, memories, and interference. Inspired by the idea of stereotypy—repetitive gestures linked to self-regulation—it transforms repetition into a language of resistance. The performer confronts social stereotypes through a dialogue with sound, using the stereo system as a symbolic partner.

Immersed in multiple sound sources, the body is forced to choose, adapt, and redefine itself. The performative moment thus becomes a device of struggle, a space for revenge, discovery, and affirmation. STeReO reflects on control over bodies, gender, and identity, inviting audiences into a shared experience of reclaiming the self.

Cat Care Calling

Cat Care Calling is a dance performance that begins with a question: “How do we turn an act of violence into an act of care?”

Today, catcalling encompasses verbal and gestural harassment in public spaces, including whistling, vulgar compliments, unsolicited remarks, sexist insults, loud comments, honking, and other everyday forms of intimidation.

Cat Care Calling is developed from an archive of videos and testimonies collected by Raffaella Menchetti. Through an embodied choreographic practice, Giselda Ranieri extracts, inhabits, and reinterprets the gestures, postures, and voices of both those who have experienced catcalling and those who perpetrate it. Her body becomes a living archive in which mimesis does not simply reproduce violence, but exposes its mechanisms, raising questions of individual and collective responsibility.

Moving between the comic and the tragic, the performance invites the audience to reflect on a central question: How—and why—can an act of violence be transformed into a gesture of care? Here, care is understood as an act of paying attention, listening, and creating the conditions for reclaiming one’s body and agency. Rather than erasing violence, the work passes through it, transforming its energy into a regenerative force.

The performance is built around the creation of a gestural vocabulary inspired by Bruno Munari’s Dictionary of Italian Gestures, transforming the language of street harassment into a choreographic device for reflection, resistance, and reappropriation.

Eleonora Serpente & Roberta Di Serio (IT)

Dancers and choreographers

Together Eleanora and Roberta for gruppocorp3, a contemporary dance collective based in Milan and founded in 2024. The collective is made up of diverse artists coming from different backgrounds, visual art, sound art, poetry and playwriting, and works through a continuous dialogue with Giovanni Sabelli Fioretti and Giuseppe Esposito from Perypezye Urbane.

The collective creates screendance projects, performances and live installations, focusing on the influence of artistic work on human, artificial and natural environments. The collective main interests of research are: experimentation on the possibilities of bodies in movement and poetic gestures, community and inclusive artistic processes, cross-contamination between genres and media, feminist practices in performance art.

Raffaella Menchetti (IT)

Filmaker, director, multidisciplinary artist

Raffaella Menchetti is a multimedia artist, researcher, director, and performer whose practice bridges dance, performance, visual arts, and moving image. Her work has been presented internationally in institutions and festivals including Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid). Her research explores writing through the body in dialogue with technology and gender studies, developing performances, videos, and interdisciplinary projects.

Giselda Ranieri (IT)

Dancer, coreographer

Giselda Ranieri is a dancer and choreographer whose interdisciplinary practice combines movement, improvisation, and digital media. Together, Menchetti and Ranieri explore the impact of technology on emotions and human relationships, creating hybrid works where body, gesture, and digitality meet to generate new imaginaries that challenge conventions and empower the collective.
